Alasdair Meldrum is the programme director for the Uptime Institute's Site Uptime
Network-Europe, Middle East & Africa. In this role, he is responsible for
developing the Network from its founding membership of 8 companies into a
multi-group organisation. Alasdair is also responsible for planning,
facilitation, benchmarking, abnormal incident reporting and analysis, and
overall programme success.
In an IT career spanning more than 35 years, Alasdair has created
many business units from scratch, developing products and services deliverables
to meet or anticipate market demand. In one such role for IBM, his Service
Management team delivered a customised set of data centre best practices to the
UK government for inclusion in its IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). This
creative foundation work is still the basis of ITIL 20 years on and is used
globally on a daily basis by many organisations. Uptime Institute is now
applying this thinking to the engineering principles of facilities management.
Alasdair holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics with
Pure Mathematics from St Andrews University and left there with a golf handicap
of 10.
