2008 Uptime Institute Green Enterprise IT Awards Evaluation Criteria |
A Project Narrative of 1-3 pages should address each of the Evaluation Criteria listed below. (See point weighting table for information on how Innovation and Implementation scores are judged.) You will be asked to upload your 1-3 page project narrative (in Word format) during the online application process.
- New Knowledge: The extent to which the improvement makes an original and important contribution to knowledge about IT or data center energy efficiency.
- Knowledge Transferability: The extent to which the reported lessons learned provide useful information to others seeking to implement a similar IT energy efficiency program
- Business Plan Integration: The extent to which relevant corporate players (business units, IT, facilities, finance, corporate social responsibility, etc.) were involved in and supportive of the initiative. How did the initiative leaders consider the impact of the energy efficiency program on the business mission to ensure a balance between energy savings and availability/cost of inadvertent downtime? Did this initiative merit and receive board-level support, C-suite support?
- Audaciousness of the Goal: The extent to which organizational stretch was required to achieve the goal. (Note: the degree of audaciousness is relative to a given organization – the point here is how much stretch was required relative to where the organization started)
- Measurability: The extent to which a plausible and quantifiable metrics scheme was developed and implemented to support the initiative. Describe the metrics used and provide empirical data on before and after.
- Impact: The extent to which the energy efficiency gains in the data center or organization converted into dollars and/or carbon footprint reduction. What was this value relative to the size of the organization or what was possible?
