Jonathan Koomey, Ph.D., is a Fellow of the Institute. Dr. Koomey is an energy policy expert and has supported the Department of Energy's Energy Star and other research and conservation programs through Lawrence Berkley National Laboratory and, most recently, has been a faculty member at Stanford University.

Alasdair Meldrum is the Programme Director for the Uptime Institute's Site Uptime Network-Europe, Middle East & Africa. In this role, he is responsible for developing the Network from its founding membership of 8 companies into a multi-group organisation. Alasdair is also responsible for planning, facilitation, benchmarking, abnormal incident reporting and analysis, and overall programme success.

Rob Menuet, PE, is responsible for mechanical systems technical review of the Institute white papers. He, with Mr. Pitt Turner, is the author of the Institute's uninterruptible cooling white paper.

Vince Renaud, PE, has 24 years of experience ranging from planning, engineering, design, and construction to start-up and operation. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the Air Force Academy and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Air Force Institute of Technology.

Richard Schlosser, PE, has more than 20 years of experience in the application, design, and testing of electrical power generation and distribution equipment. He has extensive experience in the design and commissioning of power systems for computer and computer-related facilities. Mr. Schlosser is the Director of Electrical Engineering for TiePoint Engineering and brings to the Institute extensive experience in the design and commissioning of power systems for IT and IT-related activities.

John H. (Hank) Seader, PE, with Mr. Pitt Turner, created the Institute Tier Classification System. Mr. Seader performs audits, custom strategic-level consulting engagements, and Site Uptime By Design projects. Mr. Seader has a MS degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University in California and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the US Air Force Academy in Colorado.

Lars Strong, PE, has a BS degree in Civil Engineering from New Mexico State University. His experience in site infrastructure uptime and operations comes from numerous management and consulting roles. He has been responsible for the development of engineering plans, including those with project budgets exceeding $30 million.

Robert "Dr. Bob" F. Sullivan, Ph.D., had a 32-year engineering career at IBM. He was part of the IBM team that first identified zinc whiskers. Dr. Sullivan originated the Hot Aisle and Cold Aisle concept in 1993. For the Institute, he is a staff scientist and has performed detailed research on how computer room cooling actually works and teaches the Institute’s seminar on High-Density Cooling.

Bruce Taylor is a 21-year executive of Information Technology media as a writer, editor, publisher, conference producer, speaker, and consultant specializing in IT publishing and conferencing. He is a founder of the technology, design and futurist conference PopTech, Knowledge Management World and ImagingWorld. In the early 1990s, Mr. Taylor served as publisher of International Data Group’s (IDG) Canadian IT publishing franchise. For ITWorld.com, Taylor is a regular interview host for IT thought-leaders.

William Pitt Turner, PE
, has helped clients justify several billion dollars of site infrastructure investments since 1992. He teaches the Institute's seminar on justifying data center investment. He and Mr. Hank Seader invented what has become the industry standard Tier-Level site infrastructure rating system.
